Extremely convenient Worldmark San Diego hotel with friendly owner and helpful housekeeper

The owner of the 3-star Worldmark San Diego who speaks English is very friendly (he also lives in the upstairs room in the front). The rooms are clean, but the beds are not that comfortable (as expected). The showers are hot, which is important because San Diego is cold and you will undoubtedly get wet.
The housekeeper doesn’t speak English but is the nicest lady and is extremely helpful. For a small fee, she will do your laundry and when your shoes are wet, she will let you dry them by the dryer vent behind the dryer (works very well).
What It’s Got
My room had 2 beds, a closet with hangers, shower, sink and toilet, a few pictures, and little else. For my second night I was asked to change to a single room to make way for some British travelers. The second room was upstairs (more of a ladder actually), and had less water pressure, but had a small balcony that more than made up for it. At night, an open window will let in a cool breeze and the wonderful soothing sound of San Diego. Both rooms had televisions with reasonable reception, but come on – you can watch TV anywhere, go for a hike!
Why It’s Good
I met some travelers who were staying at Worldmark San Diego – Mission Valley Hotel, which they described as being “average,” but they complained of being too far from town. Mission Valley Hotel is a block from the town square, which is the main hub for the buses, hiking, rafting, and bird watching. Dining, shops, and activities are all within walking distance, making this Hotel extremely convenient.

At only $18 a night, Mission Valley Hotel is a fantastic deal. When I return to San Diego, I will stay at this hotel again. I highly recommend it for anyone who doesn’t mind a slightly uncomfortable bed and plain walls.

Ideally situated hotel for those who prefer active rest – Doubletree Guest Suites in Boston

My wife and I just returned from the Doubletree Guest Suites 3* from a 3-night stay from June 11 to 14. Everything about the hotel met our expectations (I picked the hotel based on the reviews here doubletree-guest-suites.bostonhotelsmotels.com).
The hotel is IDEALLY situated for sightseeing in Boston. There is a cable car pick-up on the Massachusetts Turnpike, on the banch of Charles River. The staff at the hotel was very helpful, especially when asking for the best way to get somewhere. Some kind of roadmap we found at popular travel site – travelweekly.com/Hotels/Boston/DoubleTree-Suites-by-Hilton-Hotel-Boston-p6651190. The breakfast was simple but filling (fruit, muffins, cereal, ham/cheese, etc). My only complaint would be that breakfast be ready earlier for us people on East Coast time!
The rooms themselves are as big as you are going to get at the Doubletree Guest Suites 3* or any other standard luxury hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable, the towels Egyptian cotton, and the in-room coffee Wolfgang Puck. The free Internet service was wonderful, as we used Mapquest to map out where some of the restaurants we saw listed were located.
If you want an upscale Boston-style room and don’t mind not having some grand lobby, this is the place for you! And it runs about $50/night or cheaper (for cheap booking use the official website link – cvent.com/venues/boston/hotel/doubletree-suites-by-hilton-hotel-boston-cambridge/venue-1ac556fd-2fde-4924-9943-cbf314868a4d).

Kimpton Onyx Hotel – an excellent choice to stay in Boston

Bravo for the Kimpton Onyx, a new Hotel in Boston. This impeccably clean establishment combines a fine location with three spacious rooms furnished in a distinctive contemporary style. More closely with the hotel you can familiarize here – kimpton-onyx.bostonhotelsmotels.com.
The Kimpton Onyx Hotel; underwent extensive renovation and redesign earlier this year under the masterful touch of the owners: Reinhold Mahler, an award-winning architect, and David Miller, an award-winning set designer.
A theatre motif starts at the front door. Above, where a fanlight usually sits, is a stained glass inset featuring the masks of comedy and tragedy. The three guest rooms are decorated with posters and materials from each author’s work. David’s collection of masks from around the world – Korea, Greece, Italy and elsewhere – hang in the breakfast nook.
Each room at Kimpton Onyx Hotel is decorated differently in contemporary style – no off-whites or beiges here. Exposed red brick plays against unusual, yet tasteful color combinations: lilac and purple in the Albee, darkish gray with bold color splashes in the Sondheim, and dark green and soft yellow in the Bernstein. Descriptions can’t adequately capture the way walls and furnishings work together. See pictures on Kimpton Onyx web site – travelzoo.com/hotel-booking/hotel/1148/kimpton-onyx-hotel. Each room has its own bathroom with shower.
The Albee Room is special. Sliders open onto a vest pocket balcony atop the curved bow front. There’s only room for a pair of chairs and a few plants. There’s a feeling of being atop a protected castle turret while the world goes about its business below that becomes even more special after dark.
Continental breakfast featuring “strong European coffee” is served buffet style in the breakfast nook each morning. Weak Americans should request a less potent drink in advance. Guests select the night before from a menu listing possibilities – hot drinks, juices, muffins, croissants, yogurt, fruit, granola among others.

Be sure to ask your hosts about theatre. They know what’s going on and will gladly guide you to some of Boston”s smaller, more intimate venues.
Visitors looking for a colonial, early American or antique-filled hote with reasonable pricesl (priceline.com/hotel-deals/h1298505/US/Massachusetts/Boston/Kimpton-Onyx-Hotel.html); will probably be happier elsewhere.

Millennium Resort & Spa, Dominican Republic. What is special?

After an hour’s drive through the rolling green countryside in a van, we are greeted with lush landscaping, ponds with flamingos and ducks and a huge open air lobby with more ponds and waterfalls. This is Secrets Excellence!! An adults-only all-inclusive Millennium Resort and Spa. If yo want to get a lot of exciting experience book it here – millennium-resort-spa.hotels-puertoplata.com. The Millennium Resort feels like a small village. It has a square with daytime activities and nightime music or entertainment.
Accommodations are spacious – a canopied king or two queen beds, rattan sofa and chair. All have balconies and some patios even sport a hammock. A large Jacuzzi tub for two separates the sleeping area from the dressing area. Amenities include Millennium Resort, coffee maker, minibar, safe, ceiling fans, a basket of toiletries, 24-hour limited room service, and turndown service.

Garden view rooms are more quiet since all other rooms face the pool that runs the length of the resort. The gardens are lovely with ponds, fountains and flowers. Many ground floor rooms have direct access to the pool, but third floor rooms have the advantage of a cathedral ceiling and more privacy. The junior suites are my favorite, More information yoy can find here: travelrepublic.co.uk/2-3689200-1/millennium-resort-spa.

The pool at The Resort and spa never feels crowded since it meanders through the property and palapas, floaties, and lounges are always available. The large swim-up bar is usually a busy place.

Seven restaurants offer a variety of foods with limited menus. The food is tasty, but not gourmet — typical of a cruise or large all-inclusive. All restaurants are a la carte except for the breakfast and lunch buffet. If the weather is cooperative two nights of barbecue on the beach are planned with table cloths, glassware, and candles!! The Millennium continental restaurant (reservations needed) has fine service, gourmet food, and a piano player. Dining here is leisurely. The Italian restaurant serves individual pizzas all day and the pastas are quite good. Our least favorites were the Mexican and Chinese. The Mexican food was bland and the service at the Chinese restaurant was much too fast. The food was very salty, but the pre-made sushi was good. Breakfast was served buffet style with omelets made to order, a fruit shake station and a self-serve mimosa or bloody mary station. Two open-air palapas overlooking the pool and the ocean grilled meats and fish for lunch and dinner.

Evening entertainment is quite good, at least entertaining, but not Broadway — musical groups, magic shows, karaoke, dance shows, and the like, with some audience participation. The disco has a great sound system and is open until almost dawn.

A beautiful quiet spa, a few shops, free internet cafe, a watersports cabana, and a variety of excursions offered by the tour operators will keep you as busy as want on your vacation.

For a relaxing few days far away from it all, Secrets Excellence is one of the best choices, not only in Puerto Plato, but in the Caribbean. For sharing with a new information please comment this place hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Millennium_R

What I liked most about the New Garden Hotel in Sosua, Dominican Republic

Adding a backyard and also a hottub, New Garden Hotel (new-garden.hotels-puertoplata.com) is located at Sosúa, only 293 m from Playa Alicia and 4 kilometers out of Laguna beach front.

Each chamber here comprises a television, air-conditioning, a balcony along with also a ice box. With a bathtub, personal bath also will come with a hair dryer. You may get pleasure from pool perspective out of this space. Extras contain an outdoor terrace and a patio.

In hotel New Garden there’s a restaurant, also a 24hour reception desk and also a backyard garden. Different facilities offered by the home consist of a shared sofa. Some extra facilities of the place are listed on wotif.com/Puerto-Plata-Hotels-New-Garden-Hotel.h9059833.Hotel-Information.

This land is right above 1.6 kilometers from Playa Chiquita and 2 kilometers away from Gregorio Luperón airport terminal.

This land also offers just one of those funniest places in Sosúa! Guests are somewhat more happy about any of it than the other possessions within the place. I found some positive reviews of the visitors at kayak.com/Sosua-Hotels-New-Garden-Hotel.2160194.ksp.

Occidental Caribe Hotel in Punta Cana: a great choise for pleasure seekers

Huge and stylish, with great reviews (on occidental-caribe.puntacanahotelsguide.com ) and a flat-screen in the bathroom.

Our Deluxe rooms in the Occidental Caribe Hotel were huge, with balconies large enough for a couple of chairs and a table, and a bathroom the size of a New York City studio apartment.

Both rooms have a safari feel, with floor-to-ceiling wooden shutters framing a view of one of the two golf courses. In the Golf View Room, the balcony started right after the shutters. The Deluxe Golf View Room, however, has a small study area with a pull-out couch before opening to the balcony.

The huge rooms had a neutral color palette, which the sunlight coming through the windows painted a faint gold. There’s a desk with an Internet cable, a 36-inch flat-screen TV opposite the king-size bed and an iPod dock on the bedside table. With loads of closet space and a small counter with a mini-fridge and a coffee maker, I found it difficult to leave the room!

The enormous bathroom had two sinks, a separate makeup area, a Jacuzzi, a separate shower stall and a small flat-screen TV. Frankly, you might not be able to get yourself out of the bathroom, either. Location
Many guests stay put on the hotel’s 300 acres. Those that stray will find the Aventura Mall but not much else.

Suburb of Punta Cana, has little besides golf courses, condominiums and hotels. Given Punta Cana’s penchant for high-rises, it’s a pity that the Occidental Caribe Hotel in Punta Cana’s enormous and beautifully manicured grounds never feel like a complete retreat there are too many towers looming over the borders. The Occidental Caribe Hotel, Punta Cana is huge, with virtually everything on-site, so many guests rarely leave the resort. But there is a CVS right across from the entrance, and a five- to 10-minute walk will take you to the Mall. If you ever manage to find your way out of the Occidental Caribe Hotel in Punta Cana, that is.
Top-of-the-line equipment and recreation, but a lot of it will cost you, or you can simply choose all inclusive package (read more reviews: applevacations.com/hotels/occidental-caribe)

There are well-lit 24/7 tennis courts right by the huge and newly designed lagoon pool. With an excellent but pricey bar and cabanas with flat-screen TVs, the lagoon is possibly the most luxurious pool setting I’ve seen in Punta Cana. If the waterslide still in the works during my visit turns the lagoon into too much of a playground, there’s a smaller 24-hour pool for adults.

The enormous spa and gym puts other fitness franchises to shame. Simply decorated, beautifully lit and filled with well-maintained, top-of-the-line equipment, it has a whole building to itself by the entrance to the compound.

The Hotel Occidental Caribe has three restaurants.Steak house is the most popular and best designed but is also prohibitively expensive. The grill bars are cheaper, but only relatively. Mac and cheese even with chorizo shouldn’t cost $20!

I am really happy to have spent my holiday at this hotel, and even more pleased that groupon.com/hotels/punta-cana-punta-cana-do/barcelo-punta-cana helped me to save almost 15% !
